Intern Pastor Nathan Strong
For 2009-2010
Nathan StrongHere is what Nathan writes about himself by way of introduction:

"I was born and raised in Fremont, Nebraska. I have been a member of the ELCA for my entire life. My family and church have proven time and time again to be the foundation within my life. The church has influenced me greatly. Because of this, I have grown up realizing the importance of Scripture, the Creeds, and confessions of the church. These are elements that unite the people within the church and allow us to form relationships with one another. As a church member it is my role as a part of the priesthood of all believers to help those around me understand and reflect upon the Scriptures, creeds, and confessions and how they relate to the ever changing world around us.

I cannot recall a time in my life in which the church was not a part of my life. The church has provided for me a place where I can learn and grow. This influence has continued as my home church congregation, First Lutheran Church in Fremont, Nebraska, has continued to support me as I learn and grow at Luther Seminary. While in high school, I was able to share in the joys of ministry as a leader of a Bible study for middle school students. I helped with the Confirmation program. I realize now the importance that this knowledge that was shared with students was important to their faith development. I was a camp counselor at an ELCA church camp during several summers while at college. While working with young children to young adults, I was able to witness God's work within their lives. It was during this job that I realized just how much I enjoyed the ministry and being able to walk with people growing in their faith. While all are called to different vocations to serve God's creation, within college at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, I realized that God was calling me into ministry. I went on to Luther Seminary and for the past two years, I have been preparing academically for this calling. This time at Luther Seminary has provided me with a great learning environment and allowed me to truly understand more about myself and the ministry that I feel called into serving. I look forward to sharing the joys of ministry with you in the coming year."
