April WELCA Report

Sorry there was no report in February.  You know the reason. The WEATHER!!
We did have a good and busy meeting in March.

 Light Circle was in charge of “Pin and Sew” day.  Bonnie Ehrke opened the meeting with devotions.  She read an account of “YOUNG PEOPLE” from generations way back.  Same story as today.  We tend to put them down but many are doing very positive things.

 The treasurer reported a balance of $1,129.72.  Already we have gathered $378 for missions.

 Wilma Furseth reported on activities at Skaalen.  The annual meeting was held on March 9.  Linda Melton and Joan Volenberg are East Koshkonong’s representatives.  Wilma thanked Jusy Rusch and Joanne Gyland for providing a fine program for  East Koshkonong’s “ Church of the Month” party.   Several of our members donated cakes.

 The Stewardship Committee was pleased to report that fabrics, patterns, needles, etc had been donated by Cheryl Nuenthal.  Hazel Tellefson brought in 7 comfort quilts, 1 back and 2 tops.  Irene Hensel contributed 7 quilt tops and Beverly Lien made 6 tshirts and 2 sweaters.

 WELCA decided not to have a fundraiser and special project this year.  We will concentrate on the mission project and Hunger Sunday.  Lois Zerkle is in charge of Hunger Sunday.  Thrivent will donate $100 in matching funds.  It was decided to give the Hunger offering to the Food Pantry rather than send it to the Synod.

 Carolynn Lien will be attending the Seventh Triennial Gathering of the Women of ELCA in Salt Lake City on July 10-13.  Hopefully, others will be attending.

 A Spring Retreat of the South Central Wisconsin Synodical Women’s Organization will be held at the Bishop O’Connor Catholic Pastoral Center, Madison on May 16-17.  The facilitator will be Joanne Fabie who served at Rockdale a few years ago.

 Please, note.  The April 3 meeting will be “Pin and Sew” hosted by Obedience  Circle.  Meet at 9:00am. Potluck at 12:00.  Meeting at 1:00pm. Bible Sunday at 1:30pm.
