Refugee Family Co-Sponsorship
Refugee Family Co-Sponsorship: East Koshkonong Lutheran Church is co-sponsoring a Bhutanese family in Madison that will arrive March 11th. We welcome Chhabi Lal Dangal (male, age 33), Phul maya Dangal (female, age 31), Bhanu bakta Dangal (male, age 10), Babita Dangal (female, age 6), and Rabita Dangal (female, age 3).

Good Samaritan Fund
As people in our congregation and community continue to suffer the impact of our recent recession, our congregation has a unique opportunity to care for its neighbors. If you are in need of assistance because of a recent job loss or other financial struggles, please know that you can apply to the EKLC Good Samaritan Fund for financial assistance. If you are a family who would like to help out people who are struggling, but you haven't quite figured out how, consider making a gift to the Good Samaritan Fund. You will know that the money is being used to help people buy food and gas, cover housing expenses, or bring relief from high medical bills and other expenses.

The Good Samaritan Fund is currently very low on funds. We invite regular and substantial gifts to the fund in order to continue to care for our neighbors in need.

Make It Simple
This year our congregation will be participating in a generosity and simplicity program entitled “MAKE IT SIMPLE.”  MAKE IT SIMPLE provides important opportunities for study, reflection, and discussion about the choices we make in our daily lives in these times. Click here to learn more.

Health Kits
Lutheran World Relief
Because of the great need in Haite, Lutheran World Relief has run out of its supply of Health Kits. If you feel led to contribute in this way please find a list of items needed for the health kits and assembly instructions below. Lindsay Stolen brought EKLC a large supply of tooth brushes to be included in these health kits, they are located in the narthex. Please take one to include in your health kit.

People who must flee their homes quickly often do not have time to pack essential items. Health kits can help refugees maintain personal hygiene while living in exile. Items may also contribute to a new start for those who can return home.

Include the following items in each health kit:

1 hand towel, dark color recommended

1 washcloth, dark color recommended

1 bath-size bar (4 to 5 oz.) of soap, any brand,
     in its original wrapping

1 adult-size toothbrush in its original packaging

1 sturdy comb, remove packaging

1 metal nail file or nail clippers with file attached,
remove packaging (do not substitute cardboard
     emery boards for the file)

6 Band-Aids® (or similar brand), preferably 1/2"
to 3/4"; secure together with a rubber band

Do not include toothpaste.
Do not add other items or leave out any of the items listed. All items should be new and in good condition. Wrap smaller items in the washcloth; wrap washcloth and remaining items in the towel and tie securely with ribbons or yarn. Do not enclose the kit or any of its contents in plastic bags.
