Grief Support
Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? A Community GriefShare,
grief recovery support group will start meeting on Thursdays from
6:30 to 8:30 pm in Cambridge at Willerup Methodist Church. GriefShare is
a nondenominational group and features Biblical teaching on grief and
recovery topics and is open to the community. For additional information see
the flyer in the narthex and/or contact Gary Friesen at 423-4037.
Unemployed or Under-Employed?
Contact the church office for information on networking groups and job clubs
that may help.
New Team to Help in the Community
Would you be interested in serving on a team in our
congregation that tries to identify needs in our local
community, and then help? Everything from helping older
neighbors with yard work, to hosting free car repair
days, to being a crisis line for families in need. We
already give financial support to families who need help
with gas, utilities, etc., but we've been pondering
trying to connect people more with friends,
relationships, and volunteers. Looking at March 23rd at
7:00 p.m. as a first exploratory meeting. Call the
church office if you're interested in participating.
Women of the ELCA
Our women meet on the first Thursday of the month in September, October,
November, January, February, March, April, May and June for sewing in our
Sewing Room in the basement of First East Church. We put together and
tie around 80 quilts each year to send to Lutheran World Relief, along with
sewing kits, school kits, and soap. These meeting are open to anyone
who would like to help. Squares usually are available for those who
would like to sew tops at home. Click here to learn

News from Church Council
From Council President,
Bonnie Ehrke
January, 2012
We have many members in one body, but all the
members do not have the same function, so in Christ
we who are many form one body.
Romans 12:4
Thank you, as a
congregation, for the ministry each of you has
invested in East Koshkonong. Reviewing the annual
report for 2011 and all of the committees and events
we realize the efforts of many people and how God is
working in our lives.
Reluctantly we said good
bye to Pastor Jim the end of December 2011, and
wished him (and Bev) well in retirement. Beginning
January 1st we welcomed Pastor Margo Martens. She
has stepped into our lives and become one with us.
Pastor Margo has already lead us in worship, invited
our young people to come forward for children’s
sermon , lead our youth in confirmation classes,
attended WELCA, attended women’s circle group, and
met numerous members within the congregation.
Welcome Pastor Margo.
Thank you to our church
council members. With our individual gifts we have a
team. Jaime, as Vice President has been diligently
working on numerous projects, including Sunday
School, Vacation Bible School, and most recently a
proposed budget for 2012; Peggy, as Secretary has
provided accurate and essential minutes of our
meetings; Karen, as worship committee member has
kept us up to date on worship events; Kristen, as
stewardship member has encouraged and challenged us
to use our gifts;
Kurt, as property member has been busy with
painting, lighting, and so much more; Steve, as
Treasurer has provided insights and direction from
being President in 2010. Thank you, we have
experienced another year of God’s love, joy and
blessings. Sadly we say goodbye to Peggy Luther,
Kurt Klemp, and Steve Wagner, as they complete three
years of dedicated work on EKLC council. Thank you
for your enthusiasm and perseverance.
The Call Committee met with the Church
Council on Sunday, January 8 and presented a
recommendation for candidates as a pastor for EKLC.
The council reviewed all information from the Call
Committee and voted to proceed in the call process.
East Koshkonong Lutheran Church held their
annual meeting on Sunday, January 22, 2012. As part
of the new business on the agenda, the congregation
extended calls to Pastor Kirstin Tannas and Troy
Jacobson to share EKLC’s single pastor position.
Everyone is excited to be moving forward in the
process of calling a pastor.
The annual meeting was also a time of
electing council members. Joining the church council
are Gloria Fruit, Dave Reese, and David Repyak.
Welcome to our new members.
As we look forward to more blessings, more
changes and new challenges in 2012, keep all in
prayer. May we open our hearts to God’s guidance and
wisdom, His love and care.
Sincerely in Christ,
Bonnie
